Zadina joins Czech U20 squad

Halifax Mooseheads forward Filip Zadina left Halifax, N.S. on Wednesday to join the Czech Repulic U20 team in Niagara, ON.

Zadina has represented his native country several times since the young age of 15.

The Pardubice local captained Team Czech Republic’s U16 squad in 2014-2015 notching 18 points in 18 games played.

The following year, Zadina participated in the 2016 World U17 Hockey Challenge in Sault Ste. Marie, ON scoring four points in five games before tallying five points in five games at the 2017 World U18 Junior Championship in Slovakia later that year.

In 65 international games played, Zadina has amounted 73 points.

Filip’s father, Marek Zadina, represented the former Czechoslovakia at the 1992 IIHF U20 World Championship in Füssen and Kaufbeuren, Germany.

The 1999-born forward has 46 points leading the Mooseheads in scoring through 32 games this season.

The Czech Republic open the tournament against the Russians on Boxing Day at the KeyBank Centre in Buffalo, NY.
