According to a report from TVA Sports’ Mikaël Lalancette, Cape Breton Screaming Eagles star Drake Batherson is expected to be traded to the Blainville-Boisbriand Armada later this week.

The return for Batherson is currently unknown, however many speculate the Eagles will receive draft picks and a 2001-born prospect.

Blainville-Boisbriand’s top pick in the 2017 QMJHL Entry was forward Félix Lafrance.  The Saint-Eustace, PQ native was selected 24th overall by the Armada in the second round of last summer’s draft. Lafrance has 37 points in 26 games with the Saint-Eustace Vikings of the QMAAA.

Batherson is currently participating at the IIHF U20 World Championship in Buffalo, NY. The Ottawa Senators’ prospect scored twice for his native Canada in their 8-2 quarterfinal victory over the Swiss on Tuesday night.

Eagles’ general manager Marc-André Dumont made similar trade exactly one year ago today when he dealt Pierre-Luc Dubois to the Armada for Mathias Laferrière, a first-round pick and a second-round pick.

The 2017-18 Christmas trading period wraps up on Saturday, January 6.
