Cape Breton Screaming Eagles’ captain Phélix Martineau scored twice in the Eagles 6-1 trouncing of the Québec Remparts on Thursday.
Martineau’s first goal of the night was he 20th tally of the season.
The 20-year-old dynamo becomes the first Screaming Eagle to post three consecutive 20-goal seasons since Nick MacNeil in 2010.
Martineau achieved the 20-goal mark in 41 games this year. Last season, the Laval, PQ native netted 20 goals in 43 games played. In 2015-2016, it took all 68 games for Martineau to crack 20 goals.
The Eagles’ fan favourite is just three points shy of tying last season’s point total of 47 points. Martineau is on pace to score 35 goals in his final year of major junior hockey and is currently scoring more than a point-per-game with 44 points in 41 games played.
